Memorial Day Weekend Happenings

Memorial Day is off to a beautiful start here in Buffalo. Sunny skies, warm temperatures, and birds singing their choruses! πŸŽΆβ˜€οΈπŸ˜Ž
Summer break is right around the corner and the kids are certainly enjoying this sneak preview!
After this, I’ll be hopping on the mower and then setting up a 3-lane slip ‘n slide that the kids received from a sweet friend for Easter. They have been itching to use it since! πŸ₯°

Totally Buffalo Festival

Bills Turf Mats by Turf for Tots
Yesterday was another beautifully sunny day and I spent the afternoon on the water with my oldest. #perfection πŸ₯°
We had so much fun checking out the Totally Buffalo Festival at Buffalo Riverworks. (Something that I’m so glad is on my radar for next year! What a great weekend of all things Buffalo!)
There were delicious food offerings, a plethora of handmade items, fun activities for the kids, and a beautiful vibe all around.
There were SO many amazing artisans. Oh, the items!! 😍
I got to chat with a few and they were all so awesome! I loved hearing the stories behind their brands and even receiving such sweet encouragement!
The vendor that had the Turf Mats (shown above…the actual turf from the Bills stadium!) surprised me a bit. He asked if I needed help with anything as I snapped this photograph. I thanked him and told him I was just admiring as I made my way around the first time to scope things out. I explained that I wanted to get a picture so I could send it off to my father. (An old friend of the family won the bid quite a long time ago to remove the turf and he made coasters, keychains, and more.)
The current vendor got all excited and said a guy had been through earlier and had shown him one of those old keychains! He’d been completely unaware before that! We both laughed and thought, “What are the chances?!”

Taste Tests…

We got to sample sweet and savory granola, delicious dips, and even some sweet concoctions. πŸ˜‹
The owner of So Good Granola was the absolute sweetest! She spotted my earrings and asked if I had made them. As soon as I told her that I had my own small business, she was a wealth of knowledge, encouragement, and stories of her own experience.
Like so many, she too found this entrepreneurship path due to the pandemic.

Scent Tests…

From soy candles and wax melts at Lake Effect Candles (oh my GOSH they are all so pure and delicious!) to soaps, lip balms, lotions, and more, we loved guessing various scents and learning the inspiration behind them. Turns out I’m REALLY bad at guessing old school candy scents. 🀣
I wanted to buy one of each! But alas, I had to choose. My oldest was pushing for the coffee candle (which was divine!) and while I was incredibly tempted, I ended up going with “Jamaican Me Crazy.”
Give me ALLLL the Island vibes right now, please and thank you! πŸŒ΄πŸ˜Žβ˜€οΈ
Wooden Elephant Magnets with custom interior patterns

Fun in the shop…

I loved making this pair of elephant magnets last week for a small birthday surprise.🐘
The patterns inside the elephants were ones we created early onΒ while learning the symmetry tool and other basic functions of CorelDraw.
I LOVE how they turned out. It will be fun to make more patterns and incorporate them into various designs such as this. What would you enjoy seeing?

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day. Time for me to get back to some family fun! Thanks for being here!

Until Next Time Friend, Dawn

P.S. I’m still trying to figure out how to format these blog posts so they look correct on both mobile AND desktop. My apologies to the desktop users. I’ll get there… πŸ˜‰
