City of Good Neighbors 11 oz Tumblers are coming to the store this March!

Canalside Engraved Whiskey Glass

As our mid-winter break came to an end this last weekend, I ventured downtown for some ice skating fun with the family. We had a beautiful day with sunny blue skies and almost no wind. #perfection
Carefully wrapped and tucked away in my backpack was my latest creation.
I was equally excited to pull that out and sneak a few quick cell phone pictures as I was to see each tiny detail in person and have a newfound appreciation for it all!
After working many hours on Buffalo specific designs, it is amazing the detail I notice now in each of these places.
I loved being able to head down there and say…”Hey! I drew that! See XYZ over there…?”
(The giant bike on top of the building *might* just be my favorite! Haha. How fun is that though?!?!)
Things that I completely looked past before now jumped right out at me and brought a smile. I hope this new line up does the same for you.

Canalside Engraved Whiskey Glass

Introducing the new Shark Girl/Canalside, Buffalo Design!

This may quite possibly be my favorite design from the upcoming Buffalo Whiskey glass sets. To be honest, it is hard to choose. (I’m glad I don’t have to!)
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to finally have these 11 oz glasses stocked and have the ability to bring each of these designs to life that have been marinating in my brain and in CorelDraw.
As I finalize each one, I watch with such anticipation to see how that first run will go.
I kid you not, as this specific one ran after HOURS of designing, tweaking and perfecting every last one of the 929  individual lines and shapes that comprise the finished product, I was like a kid in a candy store….completely overjoyed and feeling like I might. just. BURST!
I am so proud to begin offering these! (👈👈 Total understatement! 🤣)
For our initial launch, we will have our Canalside cup, Albright Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo City Hall and the Theatre District/Metro.
There will be a few other Buffalo related designs in the bunch as well but we’ll keep those a surprise for now.

“That is SO easy! Can’t you just print a photograph?! Or convert it with just one key stroke?”

Great question!
Many assume that I just take a photograph and convert it to print out on the cup with stunning results like you see in the above Canalside design but that is NOT the case.
(It would make production of new lines a whole lot quicker, huh?)
While I do have the ability to do an outline trace of a photograph to convert it to the necessary curves/vectors for laser engraving, the results are less than desirable to say the least. (Any that I have found thus far, anyway)
In this Theatre District/Metro example, we have the original photograph up top with a “High Quality Image” trace done on the bottom.
Of course, I could just run that but then I’ll have results like THIS:Photo of whiskey tumbler engraved poorly
Simply put: this is NOT what I am going for.
Instead, I’ll take a photograph and draw the scene shape by shape, line by line, layer by layer, shade by specific shade.
It is so satisfying upon completion and leads to that “kid in a candy store feel” I mentioned earlier when I see it come to life for the first time.
It takes a significant amount of time, sure, but it is SO worth it in the end!
Along with the “City of Good Neighbors Bundle” launch, we will have plenty of other non-Buffalo related designs hitting the shop including some pretty beautiful offerings for wedding season! (Hello bride, groom, bridesmaid and groomsmen glassware!😍)
Be sure to stay tuned…
